Review

Two things I liked:

The Plot

The plot is an interesting twist to the typical tropes for romance books. The concept of two “one true loves” is fascinating. To find yourself stuck between your husband (who was presumed to be dead) and your lovely fiance—what a life!! This trope had me rooting for both men. I just couldn’t stop flipping the pages.

The Format

Reid formatted the book quite strategically. The first few chapters are about the present moment right up until she finds out her dead husband is alive. Then, Reid switches gears into the past where she fell in love with her husband, only to then flash forward to when she overcame her grief and fell in love with her husband. This formatting helped you understand the predicament the protagonist found herself in—you understand her love for her husband and fiance.

One thing I wasn't a fan of:

I’m going to be honest. This rating is a little biased because this book got me out of my 4-month reading slump! Objectively, the book is probably more of 4/5.

There were certain scenes where I felt like I was being told what happened vs shown the scene. At times, this was a little frustrating because I felt like I was just playing catch up with their love story instead of re-living it.

Other than that, I’m grateful for this book! My reading slump has been cured.
