Review
Right Person, Wrong Time Trope
This book is built around finding the right person a little too early in life. The main characters have an instant connection, but it is complicated by their travel plans and relationships. They find themselves attached, but not ready for each other. When they eventually meet again, it is an interesting reunion where both people have changed greatly in who they are and what they want for themselves. This trope is iconic and this book narrated it well!
Things I wasnât a Fan of
Ultimately, I did not buy the romance between the characters. I found Fortuneâs debut novel to be the utmost realistic romance, and this is quite the opposite.Â
How can someone wait that long after feeling betrayed? How can the feelings return so swiftly without being overshadowed by betrayal? I didnât feel their connection, which made me bored at times.
There also seemed to be subplots with their exes that felt unfinished. I wanted to know more about what happened during those 10 years apart. What made them think of each other? What made Will return to her after 10 years? This wouldâve helped me understand their connection.
Fortuneâs writing style is still one of my favorites, but this book left me a little disappointed after reading her debut novel first. A decent read, but not her best!
