*SPOILER ALERT
Two things I loved:
The inevitable end to some relationships: Maas is always real—I have no other way to see it. She doesn’t just cut off relationships in one blow to progress the plot. Instead, she takes it slow and makes it make sense. Seeing the decline of Chaol, Dorian and Celaena’s relationships with one other were filled with emotions, memories, and grief.
Celaena’s character development: Most novels with strong protagonists tend to make their main characters ridiculously headstrong and stubborn. Although, Celaena is also just that, she also shows much more. We see her cry, embarrass herself and lose her sh*t. Then, we see her get back up from all of that. Now that’s a strong protagonist.
One thing I wasn't a fan of:
It was just a little slow for me! I wanted things to progress faster—perhaps because I was on such a high from the sequel. I felt like I was trying to speed through the pages to get to a new part of the plot. I just didn’t love this as much as the rest of the series, but that’s inevitable!
