Review

Incredible Character Development of the Two Leads

After reading Beach Read by Emily Henry and feeling disappointed by the hype, I wasn’t sure about Happy Place. But I must say, I am so happy to have given Henry a second chance. This book touched my soul in many ways, which makes this review a little biased; Harriet is the first fictional character I truly relate to and understand. Reading about Harriet and Wyn’s personal development through the plot was insightful—it was beautifully crafted to their storyline and I loved it.

Flashbacks to the Beginning of Their Love Story was Perfect

The story begins with the end of a relationship between Harriet and Wyn. The flashbacks to their past were essential to understanding their reactions to one another when they reunited. It helped me comprehend their love and longing for one another, which added context to their struggles and development during certain events. Their love was beautiful and naturally, they missed it.

One thing I wasn’t a fan of…

There were many things I loved about this book as someone who identifies with Harriet’s character. I enjoyed seeing how Harriet, Wyn, Sabrina, and Cleo’s storylines progressed and unraveled.

Which made me wonder: What about Parth and Kimberly?

The story is about love, friendship, and personal growth. It is about a group of friends who care deeply about each other. I wanted to know more about Parth and Kimberly and their stories. How do they integrate into this group? These characters felt underdeveloped—I am curious about their stories.
