Review
Two things I loved:
1. The Plot: This story is not only about romanceāit is also about grief. The plot sets this grief in an unusual setting because their relationship (and marriage) was fast-paced, and missing some vital milestones. Elsie didnāt just have to grieve her husband, she had also to grieve how no one trusted her as Benās wife.
2. Two āstrangersā overcoming grief: Imagine finding out that your only son died in an accident AND he has a supposed wife. Thatās what Susan felt. I enjoyed reading about how these circumstances were navigated as āstrangers,ā while also recognizing they arenāt really strangers, are they? Not when they share the most important person in their lives: Ben.
One thing I wasn't a fan of:
I struggled with the āinstant loveā concept between Elsie and Ben. It seemed a little artificial to me; I almost couldnāt buy it. However, Iām just not a fan of the instant love tropeāso thatās probably it! If you like this type of trope, consider giving this book a read!
