When we’re younger, we tend to desire that one friend who means everything to us—a partner in crime, if you will. Someone to share your secrets with, joke around with, and go through the good and bad with.
As we grow older, reality hits us in the face. Most of the time, friends come and go. You make memories and cherish them.
It all comes down to one thing: What is your definition of a friend?
Friend type 1:
See all close friends at least once a week
Any spare time is dedicated to hanging out with friends
Friends are your family
You tell your friends everything
Friend type 2:
See all close friends infrequently (once a month or so)
Spare time is mostly dedicated to being alone
Family > friends
You’ll always be there for your friends if they need you, but you’re not always seeing/texting them
Friend types 3: somewhere in between
Ultimately, everyone is a different type of friend and expects different things from their friends too! Find people that are closest to what you value in friends; these friendships will be the smoothest <3
Although different types can work out, it may require a little more effort than more compatible friends! It is up to you how much time you want to give to someone else.
Most importantly, remember that friends are meant to bring positive energy to your life. Friends should NEVER be a burden. These people are chosen by YOU, not determined by blood. You get to choose who to put your time into so please only be friends with people who bring joy into your life :)
