What brings you the most peace?
What a thought-provoking question. Have you ever thought about the answer to this question? Probably not. Neither have I. It’s easy to forget about the most essential aspects of living when life is constantly hectic and busy.
But that’s the thing, what even is the most essential aspect of life? In my opinion, I think the answer to this question is “happiness.” At the end of the day, no matter the life we live, I think most of us want to be happy. However, what differs among us is how we define “happiness.”
Personally, I am at peace with myself and happy when I’m with my loved ones. I know that this is the typical cliche answer to “What makes you happy?” but it truly is accurate for me. I am most happy when I’m able to make memories with my brother. I am most happy when my family is all together and having fun chatting about our lives. I am most happy when I’m eating a meal with my partner and enjoying each other’s company. I need this happiness to be at peace with my life, but that's not all.
I put the most amount of my time to school, career and extracurriculars. I have a life goal of being a physician and this ambition tends to structure my days. But the more and more I think about it, it shouldn’t be like that.
I should be able to pursue my goals and ambitions while also doing the things that make me the most happy. Life can quickly lose its meaning if I pursue my goals without spending time with my loved ones and vice versa. It’s all about balance. I need both to be at peace.
Consider this for yourself: What makes you happy? What are your goals? How can you balance your goals with the things that make you happy to be at peace? Make this life everything you want it to be. You deserve it. Discover your goals. Do the things that make you happy. Ultimately, find peace in your life.
