Physics

Have you been thrown into the world of Physics? Are you worried about how Physics is a concept-based course? Well, don’t you worry because I got your back! Scroll down to find a heap load of my essential study tips for Physics courses.

My Biggest Personal Tips:

1. Practice Questions

Physics is a math course and requires practice. Use the materials your teacher gives you thoroughly. Your teacher will likely have very similar questions to their practice materials on the actual test! If you are in Physics 12 or studying Physics at the university level, check out some provincial exam questions as well! You can find links to provincial sample exams and other practice materials online!

2. Notes

“Why would you make notes for physics?”

Creating your own notes from your teacher’s notes forces you to revise new materials. This practice will help you greatly in a long term perspective. Additionally, it is best to make notes every day after each lesson; making notes the day of the lesson prepares you for the following lesson. Your notes should include different types of information: graphs, diagrams, definitions and charts.

3. Learn Concepts

Physics teachers want you to understand the concepts, not just how to complete a problem from memory! There will be questions on the test that you’ve never seen before, only solvable if you understand the concepts! So, make sure to know which concepts your teacher is testing you on and review them!

4. Cue Cards

This tip is dependent on your teacher. Does your professor emphasize definitions in class? Do your tests have a vocabulary section? If yes, it is a good idea to make cue cards. If you choose to make them online, we recommend Quizlet!

Ask Questions

Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Asking questions will not only help you understand the concepts better, but also allows you to build a relationship with your teacher. Therefore, make sure to clarify big ideas with your teachers before upcoming tests and finals!

Online Sources

We have the internet as an accessible source! You can find provincial exams, practice tests, assignments, videos, worksheets and pre-made cue cards online. Use the internet to your advantage!

Don’t forget to revise regularly and plan ahead for the upcoming quizzes, tests, and exams. Good luck!
